The order forms an advisory commission of military leaders’ spouses to recommend policies on housing, jobs, health care, education, and deployment support.
A new commission will include military leaders’ spouses and advise the President on policies affecting military spouses and their families.
The commission will recommend and report on military family policies, but agencies’ support depends on legal authority and available funding; the order does not itself provide services.
The President establishes a commission led by the spouse of the Secretary of War, with additional members tied to senior military leaders. Members include the spouses of listed military and national security officials, when applicable, plus people invited by the Chair or Executive Director. Members serve only while their spouses hold or perform the listed roles. The President designates the Executive Director. The commission begins under this order and is set to end two years after August 3, 2026, unless the President extends it.
The commission must study concerns, recommend actions, help develop policies, and submit yearly and final reports to the President. Its work covers military spouse and family issues such as housing, jobs, health care, education, and support during deployments. Agencies must provide requested information and help only as allowed by law and available funding. Members receive no pay but may receive legally allowed travel reimbursement. The Department of War may provide support only as allowed by law and existing appropriations. The order does not create a legally enforceable right or benefit. The commission must provide a report at the end of each fiscal year while it exists and a final report before it ends.
