Under this proposal, Wyoming’s oil and gas commission could oversee pits, pipelines, and other equipment used only to handle water produced during oil and gas work.
The commission could regulate facilities used only to store, move, or treat water from oil and gas work, including reuse transfers. Its authority would exclude discharges allowed under federal water permits.
The oil and gas conservation commission could regulate where covered facilities go, how they are built and run, and how their sites are restored. It covers pits, pipelines, and other equipment used only to store, move, or treat water produced during oil and gas work, including transfers for reuse in that work. The authority excludes discharges allowed under the federal water pollution permit system. If enacted, this authority would take effect July 1, 2027.
