If voters approve a homeowner tax initiative and it becomes law, qualifying homeowners who apply for Wyoming's exemption could not also get the initiative's exemption after state certification.
Starting no earlier than the 2027 tax year, homeowners who qualify and apply for Wyoming's exemption could not also get the initiative's exemption if voters approve it, it becomes law, and the state certifies it.
Wyoming would bar an owner who qualifies and applies for its homeowner exemption from also qualifying for the initiative's exemption. It covers owners who qualify and apply for the exemption on part of a single family home and its improved land. Voters must approve the initiative, it must become law, and the secretary of state must certify those facts to the revenue department. The limit would apply on or after certification and first cover the tax year beginning January 1, 2027. The act would take effect upon becoming law.
