Chatham could approve a taxpayer’s request to combine overdue and deferred property tax accounts. The taxpayer listed on the property’s tax records must apply, and Chatham would decide whether to approve the request. Both accounts must cover the same residential property. After consolidation, all property taxes and accrued interest due would follow only the applicable rules in Chapter 59 of Massachusetts law. The measure would take effect upon becoming law.
