If enacted, this temporary measure would allow a transition committee for the certified 2026 D.C. mayoral winner. Before certification, an unofficial winner would qualify only if the election board announced and published that person with a margin of at least 2% of votes cast.
The measure would allow people to organize a transition committee for the 2026 D.C. mayor-elect. The mayor-elect is the person the election board certifies as the successful candidate in the 2026 D.C. mayoral election, or a qualifying unofficial winner before certification. Before certification, the election board must have announced and published the unofficial winner with a margin of at least 2% of votes cast. The measure would take effect after mayoral approval or a Council veto override and a 30-day congressional review. It would expire 225 days after taking effect.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
