Community solar projects on landfills, brownfields, contaminated sites, or mining sites could include adjoining or related land. Regulators could not cap that land’s share of project area or power capacity.
Solar developers could include adjoining or related land in covered community solar projects. Covered sites would include landfills, brownfields (previously developed land that may be polluted), contaminated sites, and mining sites. The added land must be developed as part of the same project. The Board of Public Utilities could not cap that land’s share of total project area or power capacity. These changes would take effect immediately if the bill becomes law.
