Each fiscal year after enactment, lawmakers would set aside at least 1% of casino fund deposits or $8 million for centers serving residents with disabilities, whichever is more. They would decide the amount if deposits fall short.
Lawmakers would send casino fund money through the General Fund and the Department of Human Services to the New Jersey Association of Centers for Independent Living. The association would distribute the money to New Jersey centers that serve state residents with disabilities. The yearly amount would be at least 1% of deposits into the fund or $8 million, whichever is greater. If deposits cannot cover that amount, lawmakers would decide how much to set aside. The bill would take effect immediately if enacted; the funding rule would apply to each fiscal year following enactment.
