Once the applicable start dates arrive, Pennsylvania insurers would cover preeclampsia testing for screening or care without charging patients for covered tests.
Insurers would cover preeclampsia tests to screen people without symptoms and help diagnose or manage people with symptoms, without charging them for covered testing.
Insurers would cover biomarker testing for preeclampsia without patient cost-sharing. The rule applies to insurers that offer, issue, or renew health insurance policies in Pennsylvania. The coverage must include screening for people without symptoms and diagnosis and management for people with symptoms. Cost-sharing includes deductibles, coinsurance, copayments, and similar charges, but not premiums, out-of-network balance bills, or costs for services the policy does not cover. The act would take effect 180 days after enactment. For policies that require rates or forms to be filed, it would apply when a rate or form is first filed on or after the act takes effect. For policies that require neither filing, it would apply when issued or renewed on or after 180 days after the act takes effect.
