Eligible holders of listed temporary visas may renew them from within the United States without leaving for the renewal to be granted. It covers only holders of valid, unexpired visas in seven listed temporary categories, such as E, H(i)(b), and L. Applicants must have been registered and fingerprinted, remain eligible for the visa, and qualify for a waiver of the in-person interview. They cannot be subject to a visa issuance fee called a reciprocity fee. When a petition is required, it must be approved and unexpired. Anyone who temporarily leaves must intend to return under one of the listed temporary visa categories. Eligibility is measured on the date the person submits the renewal application.
