Drivers in crashes without injury or death would notify police only when damage to any one person's property exceeds $1,000, up from $500. They would send a written report to the Motor Vehicle Commission unless an officer sends one there.
Drivers would notify police and generally send the Motor Vehicle Commission a written report if a crash damages any one person's property by more than $1,000. The higher damage cutoff affects drivers of vehicles and streetcars in crashes without injury or death. Injuries or deaths still require reporting. A driver would not need to send a written report if a law enforcement officer sends a written crash report to the Motor Vehicle Commission. If enacted, the higher cutoff would take effect immediately. Drivers would notify police as quickly as possible and send any required written report within 10 days of the crash.
