If approved, the measure would let State homes providing nursing care under contract choose repayment or direct delivery for medicines that pass a price cutoff.
A State home providing nursing care under contract could choose repayment or direct delivery for a medicine that passes the bill’s price cutoff.
The Secretary must reimburse a covered State home for a costly medicine or furnish the medicine, at the home’s choice. A covered State home is one that provides the medicine to a veteran receiving nursing home care under a contract or agreement with the Secretary. The medicine’s one-month average wholesale price plus a 3 percent transaction fee must exceed 8.5 percent of the payment for that veteran’s care during that month.
