D.C. would approve dropping a planned route through Hart Middle School
D.C. would approve removing an unbuilt 7th Street route from its street plan to support renovations at Hart Middle School.
1
What it does
D.C. would approve a street plan excluding the unbuilt 7th Street route through Hart Middle School’s property. The plan would include a segment keeping Valley Avenue connected.
Argument forRemoving the unused street designation could clear a planning obstacle to Hart Middle School renovations for students and staff.
Argument againstRemoving this planned route could make a future 7th Street extension harder, although D.C. says it has no plans for one.
More detail
The Council would approve the street plan revisions shown on the Surveyor’s map. The 7th Street portion covers Lots 801, 802, and 803 in Square 5963. The Valley Avenue portion lies on Lot 801. Approval would take effect after the mayor approves it or the Council overturns a veto. A 30-day congressional review and publication in the D.C. Register must also occur.
