If enacted, the bill would stop planned community associations from banning or unreasonably restricting residents' food gardens, starting four months later.
Residents in planned communities could grow food gardens without their association banning them or unreasonably restricting them. General rules about water use, fertilizer, or invasive plants could still apply.
Associations would be barred from adopting or enforcing rules that ban or unreasonably restrict vegetable gardens on residential property. This applies to associations that manage planned real estate developments and gardens growing herbs, fruits, flowers, or vegetables for people to eat. General rules that do not specifically concern vegetable gardens, including rules about drought water use, fertilizer, or invasive plants, could still apply. The protection would take effect on the first day of the fourth month after enactment.
