If enacted, Ohio vehicle owners could request West Point specialty plates by paying a $10 administrative fee, a $25 contribution, and other required registration charges.
Vehicle owners could request West Point plates for eligible vehicles. Each application or renewal would include a $10 administrative fee and a $25 contribution, plus regular registration charges.
Money from the proposed plates would support West Point cadets at Ohio events and activities. The separate $10 administrative fee would support the state highway-purpose fund.
Vehicle owners or lessees may apply for West Point plates, and the registrar would issue them after receiving a complete application and required payments. The plates would be available for passenger cars, noncommercial vehicles, recreational vehicles, and other vehicle classes approved by the registrar. Applicants would pay regular registration taxes, any applicable local vehicle taxes, any applicable special-plate fee, a $10 administrative fee, and a $25 contribution. The registrar would approve the plate logo and wording after representatives of the West Point Society of Central Ohio select them. Applicants would have to follow all other vehicle-registration laws.
The registrar would deposit each $25 plate contribution into the state license plate contribution fund and pay those contributions to the West Point Society of Central Ohio. The money would come from applications and renewal notices for West Point plates. The West Point Society of Central Ohio would use the money to sponsor cadets at Ohio events, provide meals at founders day dinners, and support cadets visiting Ohio for military academy activities. The registrar would deposit the separate $10 administrative fee into the public safety-highway purposes fund.
