If money is set aside, New York would award competitive grants to volunteer and municipal ambulance services for projects that support their work.
The proposal would offer competitive grants for projects that support volunteer and municipal ambulance services, if money is set aside. Each applicant could receive no more than 10% of a cycle’s available funding.
After each grant cycle, the commissioner would report funding, applications, awards, and grant amounts by project type and county on the department’s website.
The proposal would set up competitive state grants for ambulance service projects. Volunteer and municipal ambulance services could apply alone or together for a project that benefits each participating service. A municipality or county could apply for a service if it meets department requirements to show the service’s approval and direct benefit. Grants would depend on state funding being set aside and would be awarded competitively. No applicant could receive more than 10% of the money available in a grant cycle. The commissioner would set grant application cycles. The act would take effect on April 1 following the date it becomes law.
The commissioner would publish a report on each grant application cycle. The report would cover each grant application cycle and appear on the department’s website. The report would list available funding, applicants, awardees and the municipalities they serve, and amounts requested and awarded by project type and county. The report would be due no later than 30 days after the grant cycle ends.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
