The failed proposal would let some UW System students with approved DACA status and a year of Wisconsin residence pay resident tuition.
A person with approved DACA status and 12 months of Wisconsin residence before enrolling would qualify for resident tuition at a UW System institution.
A person who meets both requirements would qualify for the resident tuition rate. The person must have lived in Wisconsin for the 12 months immediately before the semester or session when they register at a UW System institution. The person must have approved deferred action status under the federal DACA program. The exemption would first apply to people who enroll for a semester or session after the act's effective date.
