Wisconsin choice schools could have permit holders teach
Private schools in Wisconsin’s parental choice programs could have employed substitute permit holders teach within the limits of their state permits.
1
What it does
Private schools in Wisconsin’s parental choice programs could have an employed permit holder teach, as allowed by the person’s state substitute teacher permit.
Argument forSchools could have another way to cover classes, since employed permit holders may teach within the limits of their substitute permits.
Argument againstFamilies might worry that a permit holder teaching under the permit’s limits may not meet the degree or teaching-license standard described for other teachers.
More detail
An employed person with a state substitute teacher permit may teach at the private school as the permit allows. This applies to private schools in the parental choice programs covered by sections 118.60 and 119.23 of Wisconsin law. The person must be employed by the private school and hold a substitute teacher permit issued by the state education department.
