A student who passes an approved competency exam would count in the district’s funding measure for that course through the rest of the semester, under state rules.
The proposal would include a student in the district’s average daily membership for a course the student completes by exam. It would cover students who pass competency-based equivalency exams authorized by state law, and apply only to the course completed by exam. The state superintendent would have to adopt rules for this counting method. The count would last through the remainder of the semester in which the student passes the exam. If enacted, the bill would take effect once all steps required to become law are complete.
