Wisconsin schools teach adoption in growth and development classes
Wisconsin school boards that offer human growth and development instruction teach about adoption, parental responsibility, and marriage’s socioeconomic benefits.
1
What it does
Boards that offer human growth and development instruction must teach about adoption, parental responsibility, and marriage’s socioeconomic benefits for adults and their children.
Argument forStudents in these courses may learn about adoption alongside other required subjects, which could help them understand adoption as a way to build a family.
Argument againstSchools may have less room for other topics because boards must teach adoption, parental responsibility, and marriage’s socioeconomic benefits in the same course and year.
More detail
School boards must teach about adoption, parental responsibility, and marriage’s socioeconomic benefits for adults and their children. This applies to school boards that offer human growth and development instruction in kindergarten through grade 12. The program is optional for school boards. If a board provides any part of the recommended program, it must teach the listed subjects in the same course and year.
