Virginia would define two types of spirit bottles: sought-after bottles with limited availability and collectible bottles with distinctive features.
The proposed bill defines designer bottles as sought-after spirits with limited availability, and vintage bottles as collectible spirits distinguished by features such as age, shape, or recipe.
The proposed bill would define “designer spirit bottle” and “vintage spirit bottle” in Virginia alcohol law. Both definitions cover bottles of spirits. A designer bottle must be considered upscale, fashionable, or in high demand, and either not readily available in government stores, sold only in limited quantities in stores, or sold through the Authority’s spirits lottery. A vintage bottle must have a collectible size, shape, color, label, recipe, or age.
