Virginia would offer free state park entry and parking to veterans’ spouses and dependent children who document a veteran’s 100% military-related disability rating or death from a military-related disability.
Spouses and dependent children could request free Virginia state park admission and parking passes if a veteran has a 100% military-related disability rating or died from a military-related disability. The passes would not discount other park charges.
The department managing state parks would issue eligible family members a Disabled Veteran’s Family Passport on request. Eligible people would be spouses and dependent children of U.S. Armed Forces veterans with a 100% service-connected disability rating or whose death resulted from a service-connected disability. Service-connected means tied to military service. Applicants would need proof from Veterans Affairs or the veteran’s military service of the disability rating or cause of death, plus documents showing their family relationship. Pass holders would need to show their passport to enter without paying parking or admission fees. The passport would not discount other charges, such as special events, park programs, and concessions. Officials could require proof of continued eligibility no more than once every five years per passport holder.
