VirginiaVirginia would name the brown-belted bumblebee its official native pollinator
Virginia would recognize the brown-belted bumblebee among its official state symbols, giving it the title of official native pollinator.
What it does
The brown-belted bumblebee would receive Virginia's official native pollinator title. The honey bee would remain listed separately as the state's official pollinator.
Argument forAn official title could draw Virginians' attention to the brown-belted bumblebee and encourage people to learn about this native bee.
Argument againstSeparate pollinator and native pollinator titles could leave people unsure why Virginia recognizes both the honey bee and bumblebee.
More detail
