The Texas Department of Criminal Justice would have to keep the temperature in each department-operated facility between 65 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The requirement covers every facility operated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The department would not have to comply until September 1, 2026. The Act would otherwise take effect on the 91st day after the last day of the legislative session.
