Eligible voters who move within their county could vote in their registered precinct after submitting required residence information, while certain registration updates would take effect after 30 days.
Registration information would take effect 30 days after a voter submits certain address or registration updates, subject to statutory exceptions.
An eligible voter who moved within the county could vote in the registered precinct after submitting a statement with residence and registration information.
A voter's registration information becomes effective as changed on the 30th day after the voter submits certain change-of-address or registration information. This applies to voters whose registration information changes after they submit a notice, response, statement of residence, registration application, or agency change of address. The 30-day rule is subject to the exceptions in Section 15.025(b) and (d). The change takes effect on the 30th day after the specified submission. The Act applies only to change-of-address notices submitted on or after its effective date.
An eligible voter may vote in the precinct where the voter is registered after moving within the county. The voter must still live in the county and, when required, in the political subdivision or election territory covered by that election. Before voting, the voter must submit a signed statement to an election officer. The statement must confirm that the voter meets the residence rules and include the information required on a voter registration application and the submission date. The Act applies to its covered address-change provisions only when the change-of-address notice is submitted on or after the Act's effective date.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
