State and local governments designate shared changing rooms, restrooms, and sleeping areas in covered spaces for females or males, with stated exceptions.
State and local governments designate shared changing rooms, restrooms, and sleeping areas in covered spaces for the exclusive use of females or males. Rooms used only by on-duty firefighters or law enforcement personnel are excluded.
Listed people may enter despite the changing-room and restroom prohibitions, including adults helping children or people who need assistance. Service workers may enter only when the room is unoccupied.
The state and local governments must designate each covered multi-occupancy changing room, restroom, or sleeping area for the exclusive use of females or males. The rule covers rooms in buildings or facilities owned by the state or a local government, and spaces they lease or occupy. The rule does not apply to rooms used exclusively by firefighters or law enforcement personnel acting in their official roles. The section also refers to exceptions in §§ 13-32-22 and 13-32-23; their terms are not included here.
The listed people are not subject to the prohibitions in § 20-13-60. These exceptions apply to the prohibitions in § 20-13-60. A parent or lawful chaperone may accompany a child under ten; another person may accompany someone who needs help because of age or disability. Officials and government employees acting in their official roles, people giving emergency medical help, and people doing custodial, maintenance, or inspection work are listed; service work is allowed only when the room is unoccupied. People providing services or aid are also listed during a natural disaster or declared emergency, or when needed to maintain order and safety.
