A person who electronically publishes an officer’s home address, birth date, or Social Security number without consent to cause serious fear commits a Class 6 felony.
Publishing an officer’s home address, birth date, or Social Security number electronically without consent is a Class 6 felony when done to make the officer or an immediate family member reasonably fear death or serious injury.
The law prohibits this electronic publication when both stated conditions are met. The rule covers a judicial officer or law enforcement officer and that officer’s home address, date of birth, or Social Security number. The publisher must act without the officer’s consent and intend to place the officer or an immediate family member in reasonable fear of death or great bodily injury. A violation is a Class 6 felony.
