Oklahoma law requires agencies holding certain unclaimed or seized weapons to preserve those they determine have historic military value and donate them to qualifying veterans' groups.
When an agency determines a held weapon has historic military value, it must preserve the weapon and donate it to a local unit of a qualifying veterans' organization.
An agency must not destroy a weapon it determines has historic military value and must donate it to a local unit of a qualifying veterans' organization. For sheriff's offices and campus police agencies, this applies to unclaimed personal property held at least six months and no longer needed as evidence or for litigation. For specified state law enforcement agencies, it applies to firearms whose title has vested in the agency. The receiving veterans' organization must be incorporated by an act of Congress. The preservation and donation rule applies when the agency determines that a weapon has historic military value.
