A new state council would study transportation for older adults and people with disabilities, look for federal funding, and recommend ways to improve services.
New Jersey would establish a council to study and coordinate transportation services for people with disabilities and senior citizens. The council would have 17 members: 11 state officials or their designees, and six public members. Each public member must have relevant expertise and represent one of six named organizations; the Senate President and Assembly Speaker would each appoint three. The council would make recommendations; the text does not require agencies or lawmakers to adopt them. The act would take effect immediately. Members would be appointed within 60 days, and the council would meet at least once a year.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
