People using “Nurse” in New Jersey would face license rules for registered and practical nurses and a separate advanced practice certification rule.
Two proposed rules would limit who may use “Nurse.” One requires an active, unsuspended registered nurse license, and the other requires an active, unsuspended practical nurse license.
A separate rule would require advanced practice nurse certification to use “Nurse,” “advanced practice nurse,” or “A.P.N.” Its overlap with the other nursing rules could leave licensed nurses unsure which rule applies.
Two proposed rules would require nursing licenses for use of the title “Nurse.” The rules also cover people who claim to be registered or practical nurses. The registered nurse rule requires an active, unsuspended professional nursing license. The practical nurse rule requires an active, unsuspended practical nursing license. These rules would take effect immediately if the bill became law.
A separate proposed rule would require advanced practice nurse certification to use “Nurse.” This rule also covers people using “advanced practice nurse” or “A.P.N.” A person must have advanced practice nurse certification to use the titles covered by this rule. Its use of “Nurse” overlaps with the registered and practical nurse rules. This rule would take effect immediately if the bill became law.
