Nevada’s licensing board must issue endorsement licenses to eligible out-of-state therapists and counselors, and decide complete applications within stated deadlines.
The Board must issue a Nevada license by endorsement to eligible out-of-state therapists and counselors, unless it denies the application for good cause.
An investigation alone does not block an endorsement license, but applicants must show they have not been disciplined by their licensing authority.
The Board must issue an endorsement license to applicants who meet the requirements. This applies to marriage and family therapists and clinical professional counselors seeking a Nevada license based on an out-of-state license. Applicants must hold a valid, unrestricted license in the same profession from the District of Columbia or another state or U.S. territory. The Board may deny an application for good cause. The Board must tell applicants within 15 business days if it needs more information. It must approve and issue the license within 45 days after receiving all information needed to complete the application, unless it denies the application for good cause.
Applicants must show they have not been disciplined by their licensing authority. This applies to applicants seeking endorsement as a marriage and family therapist or clinical professional counselor based on an out-of-state license. An investigation by the licensing authority alone does not disqualify an applicant. Applicants must also show they have not been held civilly or criminally liable for malpractice, and must submit fingerprints, a truthful affidavit, required fees, and any other information the Board requires.
