New Jersey would include at least one Hudson County area in its health hub program and require hubs to review care access involving hospitals receiving charity care funds.
Health hubs would study care needs, wait times, and gaps in access related to hospitals receiving charity care funds in their regions. They would report findings to the state, without gaining control over those funds.
If the bill becomes law, New Jersey's human services department would have to include at least one Hudson County area in its regional health hub program.
Each regional health hub would review care access related to hospitals receiving charity care funds and report findings to the Department of Health. The reviews would concern hospitals receiving charity care funds within each hub's region. These duties would not give hubs authority to manage or distribute charity care funds or change how those funds are paid. These duties would take effect immediately if the bill becomes law.
The Department of Human Services would designate at least one area in Hudson County as a regional health hub. The requirement would take effect immediately if the bill becomes law.
