New Jersey’s nursing board would establish a program letting approved nursing schools award credit for training and required practice helping nurses record patient visits.
The New Jersey Board of Nursing would establish the program with approved nursing schools and authorize them to award course credit. Students must attend board-approved nursing schools. Their help would cover patient visits with New Jersey licensed nurses, within the work those nurses are allowed to perform. Students would earn credit by successfully completing the course. Training would cover recordkeeping and care unit routines, patient privacy rules, and medical billing, including medical terms. Students would practice helping nurses document patient visits for a number of hours set by the board. The bill would take effect immediately if enacted.
