Beginning January 1, 2027, grant recipients in designated high-poverty areas must keep their main operations there for three years.
Recipients must keep their main business or operations in the high-poverty area for three years after receiving a grant. If they leave earlier, the county may reclaim a share based on how long they did not comply.
A county may reclaim part of a grant if the recipient does not keep its main business or operations in the area for three years. This applies to recipients of funding from committees serving qualifying areas within metropolitan-class cities. The county may set enforcement rules, including notice, repayment schedules, and documentation requirements. The county decides whether reclaimed money goes to the state support fund or a county-run development fund. This remedy is in addition to other remedies available under law or contract. The law becomes operative January 1, 2027. The three-year period starts when the recipient receives the funding.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
