Medical Assistance would pay facilities directly for eligible residents’ hospice care

The department would fully reimburse the hospital or intermediate care facility directly for hospice care, without a discount. This applies to hospice care for a resident of a nursing facility or intermediate care facility. The resident must qualify for Medical Assistance coverage for facility services as if they were not receiving hospice care. The department would provide this reimbursement no later than August 1, 2026.
