Nebraska voters were to decide in November 2026 whether to limit local subdivisions’ yearly property-tax growth, but the measure was indefinitely postponed.
If voters approve the amendment, each political subdivision’s yearly property-tax total could rise by no more than 2% plus a percentage based on growth in its property value.
The proposed amendment would cap the total property taxes each political subdivision may levy in a year. The cap would apply to the total property taxes levied by each political subdivision. The amendment would take effect only if voters approve it. The limit would begin January 1, 2027.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
