The postponed proposal would give people receiving federal health insurance premium credits a Nebraska tax credit based on the difference between two federal calculations.
People receiving federal health insurance premium credits would qualify for a Nebraska credit, payable even above their state tax bill. Its amount would equal the difference between two federal credit calculations.
Nebraska would provide an income tax credit that eligible people could receive even if it exceeds their state tax bill. People would qualify if they received a federal health insurance premium assistance credit under section 36B for that tax year. The amount would equal the difference between the federal premium credit calculated under the expired formula and the federal credit otherwise allowed. The credit would apply to tax years beginning, or treated as beginning, on or after January 1, 2026.
