Nonprofits holding leases or subleases to support or run Mississippi state parks do not pay state or local property taxes on those lease rights.
Nonprofits’ lease or sublease rights for developing, supporting, or running Mississippi state parks are exempt from all state and local property taxes. This exemption covers those rights, not all nonprofit property.
The law exempts eligible nonprofits’ lease and sublease rights from all state and local property taxes. The exemption covers rights granted under Mississippi’s state park land leasing law. The lease or sublease rights must be granted to a nonprofit to develop, support, improve, manage, or operate state park land. The act states that it takes effect from and after January 1, 2026.
