Grant money must pay retention bonuses to current law enforcement and correctional officers or tuition and fees for law enforcement trainees. At least $750,000 must go to agencies with ten or fewer employees working in law enforcement. The one-time funding covers the period from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027.
The attorney general reports to Legislative Management on the grants and their results. The report covers how grant money was used, how well it worked, the number of grants, average bonus amounts, and other program results. The attorney general must provide the report during the 2025–26 interim.
