The proposal would let Lee County's board approve sheriff radar use on roads outside city limits near schools, but only if every supervisor votes yes.
Lee County's board of supervisors may approve radar use by the county sheriff's department. If approved, the department may use radar on roads outside city limits in school zones when school activities are happening. A school zone is a designated stretch of road approaching, next to, or beyond school buildings or grounds, or along which school activities occur. Approval requires a unanimous board vote and must be recorded in the county board minutes. The bill died in committee, so this proposed authority did not take effect. If passed, the bill would take effect upon passage. It died in committee and did not take effect.
