If adopted, the rule would require the House Clerk to post committee agendas before meetings and keep committees to listed bills and issues.
The House Clerk would post agendas for covered committee meetings on the House website. The rule would not cover the Rules or Management Committee, joint or subcommittee meetings, or hearings where no bills will be adopted.
Each covered agenda would name the committee, give the meeting date and time, list bills to be discussed, and link to their text.
After an agenda is posted, no one could change it, and the committee could discuss only the bills or issues listed.
The proposed rule would require the House Clerk to post agendas for House committee meetings on the House website. It would cover House committee meetings during regular committee time and other scheduled House committee meetings, except for the listed groups and hearings. The posting rule would not cover the Rules Committee, the Management Committee, joint or subcommittee meetings, or hearings where no bills will be adopted. For meetings during standing committee time, the agenda would be posted at least 24 hours before the meeting. For other covered meetings, it would be posted at least one hour before.
Each posted agenda would have to include the committee name, meeting date and time, bills to be discussed, and a link to each bill's text. These details would be required on agendas covered by the proposed rule.
No person could change a posted agenda, and a committee could discuss only bills or issues listed on it. These limits would apply to committees holding meetings covered by the proposed rule.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
