If enacted and adopted by Becket, the measure would let the town pause certain large solar and battery uses while it studies zoning rules.
Becket could pause certain large solar and battery uses while it studies zoning rules. Batteries serving individual homes would be exempt.
Becket could adopt a temporary pause on certain large solar and battery uses. The pause could cover use of land or structures in Becket for large solar installations and battery energy storage systems, but not batteries serving individual homes. If Becket adopts a pause, the town must study and review zoning rules for these uses, consistent with applicable law and its goals for protecting ecological resources. The pause would last six months after the town adopts it or until the town adopts zoning changes for these uses, whichever comes first.
