If Bridgewater voters approve, the town council would appoint a qualified town manager for up to three years at a time, with limits on outside work and other town offices.
The town council would appoint the town manager by majority vote of the full council. The rules apply to Bridgewater’s town manager and the town council. The manager must have proven administrative ability and relevant education, training, and management experience. The manager must work full-time, may not hold another town office, and may engage in other business only with advance approval by majority vote in a public council session. The manager need not live in Bridgewater but must be a United States citizen. The manager’s term could last up to three years and could be renewed for additional terms of up to three years each. These rules would take effect only after Bridgewater voters approve the act by majority vote.
