If approved as written, Beverly could keep John G. LeLacheur as police chief until age 70 if he remains able to perform the job.
John G. LeLacheur may continue as Beverly’s police chief until age 70, retirement, or removal by the mayor, if he remains able to do the job.
After age 65, no further retirement deductions would come from his regular pay, and his retirement allowance would be calculated as if he retired at 65.
John G. LeLacheur may be appointed and may continue serving as Beverly’s police chief. This provision applies only to John G. LeLacheur as chief of the Beverly Police Department. He must remain mentally and physically able to perform the job. Beverly may pay for an examination by an impartial physician it chooses. His service ends when he turns 70, retires, or the mayor relieves him of his duties, whichever happens first. The provision would take effect when the act is passed and would govern service until one of the listed ending events occurs.
No further retirement-system deductions would be made from his regular pay after he reaches age 65, and his retirement allowance would match the amount available at age 65. This provision applies only to John G. LeLacheur and his regular compensation and retirement allowance. The retirement allowance is calculated as though he retired when he reached age 65. The deduction rule applies after he reaches age 65, and the retirement allowance applies when he retires.
