Members would contribute a smaller share of their pay to the retirement program. The rates cover members of the Maine Public Employees Retirement Program, including teachers and state employees. Other rules in this part may provide different contribution rates. The listed rates start July 1, 2027, and reach 6.2% on July 1, 2032.
The State would pay certain added retirement costs for teachers. The payment applies to certain added retirement costs for teachers. This covers additional employer costs that apply to teachers' normal retirement costs under section 17701-C. This requirement would begin July 1, 2027.
