What it does
For fiscal years ending after June 30, 2026, total state employee health insurance premium increases are capped at inflation plus 10 percentage points. The fully insured Medicare Advantage prescription drug plan is exempt.
Argument forLimiting yearly increases in total premiums could help keep health insurance costs more predictable for Maine's state employee health plans.
Argument againstPeople covered by the exempt Medicare Advantage prescription drug plan could face premium increases without protection from this cap.
