Certain vehicle owners would get a one-time credit of up to $250 against property taxes when registering, renewing registration or paying vehicle taxes. Any unused amount would not be refunded.
The proposal would give a one-time, nonrefundable $250 credit against vehicle property taxes. It would cover buses, motorcycles, passenger vehicles, recreational vehicles, trailers and trucks taxed under the listed Kansas vehicle tax laws. The credit would reduce only the tax owed; any amount above the tax would not be refunded. Each vehicle could receive only one credit during the fiscal year. The credit would apply to transactions during fiscal year 2027, from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
