If adopted, the proposal would make a second child labor law conviction a felony with a $25,000 fine, and increase the penalties for later convictions.
A second conviction would be a level 7 person felony and carry a $25,000 fine. A third or later conviction would be a level 5 person felony and carry a $50,000 fine, in addition to other criminal penalties.
The proposal would set felony penalties and fines for repeat child labor law violations. They apply to a person, firm, or corporation convicted of employing someone in violation of child labor law, or permitting or conniving at a violation. The penalties apply after conviction. The $25,000 and $50,000 fines are in addition to other criminal penalties. If adopted, the proposal would take effect after publication in the statute book.
