This failed proposal would require job training assignments for covered Kansas food assistance recipients ages 18–59 who have no dependents under six and work fewer than 30 hours weekly.
Kansas would assign covered food assistance recipients ages 18–59 to employment and training if they have no dependents under six and work fewer than 30 hours a week. Federal work exemptions would still apply.
The Kansas Department for Children and Families would assign covered food assistance recipients to employment and training. Coverage includes adults able to work ages 18–49 and people required to register for work ages 50–59. Covered adults must work fewer than 30 hours a week and have no dependents under six. They must be subject to the referenced federal work requirements. People ages 50–59 must also be required to register for work and have no federal exemption. If enacted, the requirement would take effect after publication in the statute book. The proposal died in committee and did not become law.
