If enacted, Indiana regulators would reject certain electric rate increases starting July 1, 2026, when the added costs come only from serving data centers or other covered facilities.
Indiana regulators would block the part of an electric rate increase tied only to serving data centers or certain high-demand Indiana facilities with fewer than 50 full-time workers on site.
Indiana utility regulators would reject the part of an electric rate increase tied only to the utility’s cost of serving a covered facility. It covers data centers and existing or planned Indiana facilities that have or expect fewer than 50 full-time workers on site. For facilities other than data centers, current or expected total electricity demand must exceed the smaller of 5% of the utility’s average peak demand over the most recent three calendar years or 150 megawatts. If enacted, this rule would take effect July 1, 2026.
