For certain initial teaching licenses, applicants with a qualifying degree and grade point average would not need to prove subject knowledge through an exam or another approved process. Other licensing requirements would still apply.
Eligible applicants would not have to show subject knowledge through an exam or another department-approved process when applying for an initial teaching license. The exemption covers applicants for specified licenses: kindergarten through grade 12 in physical education, music, or art; or grades 7 through 12 in English/language arts, mathematics, reading, or health. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, in the subject they want to teach or a related subject.
